On behalf of the Local Organising Committee, it is a great pleasure to invite you to attend and participate in the 45th Meeting of EASD in Vienna, Austria. Once more you will have the opportunity of meeting colleagues, friends and members of the EASD family to discuss the latest developments in scientific research and clinical practice.

Vienna, the queen of the blue Danube, is one of the great capital cities of Europe and situated in the Danube basin. Vienna has been home to the rulers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and many masters of classical music. History, art and beauty oozes from every street corner and alley way. So discover St. Stephen's Cathedral, enjoy the Viennese Woods, or just stroll through the narrow lanes of this unforgettable city. Vienna is the ideal backdrop to the 45th EASD Meeting that promises a different and enriching experience.

The meeting will be held at "Messezentrum Wien". This is located at the edge of the inner city of Vienna, in the heart of the green and pleasant "Prater" recreational area. Vienna International Airport is a mere 30 minutes away and the historical city centre can be reached in 20 minutes.
